2011 Lexus CT 200h by Five Axis

Yes, it is indeed a bit odd that Lexus chose to show off a tuned version of its CT 200h hatchback at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show. Generally speaking, such machines are reserved for events more along the lines of the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Still, here we are in the Windy City and there's this Five Axis-tuned hybrid on the stage; we couldn't help but shoot it for your viewing pleasure.

In addition to the custom widebody kit, this CT 200h wears a unique coat of paint and features a lowered suspension courtesy of Tein along with upgraded brakes from Stoptech. Want to see more? Check out the gallery of live images below... and do try to overlook the horrible lighting afflicting the Lexus stage in Chicago.

LowCVP launch Community Challenge

LowCVP launch Community Challenge

The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership and Energy Saving Trust today launched the Community Challenge which offers prizes of up to £5,000 for community based projects promoting low carbon vehicles and fuels or smarter, sustainable travel.

Entry forms can be accessed through the LowCVP website by clicking here. The deadline for entries is 4th June 2010.

The judges are looking for community groups to submit original ideas that reduce carbon emissions from travel and transport.

There are three categories: Vehicles and Fuels, Smarter/Eco Driving and Reducing Car Use. Projects can deliver physical improvements, equipment or technological developments, as well as providing information or setting up a scheme to promote sustainable transport.

Low CVP Managing Director, Greg Archer, said "We are very excited to launch the Community Challenge, which allow us to recognise and support the achievement of community groups across the UK in helping to accelerate the shift to low carbon vehicles and fuels."

The Community Challenge is supported by WhatGreenCar.com, ACT TravelWise, Global Action Plan and the RAC Foundation.

The winners will be announced at the LowCVP conference in July 2010. For the purposes of the competition, a community can be defined as a group or society either in a physical place, or operating virtually.
